EXERCISE, EXERCISE

We will continue our exercises by setting our position reporting.
This is most helpful when operating away from our normal location, such as for field Day or an activation for an exercise or emergency.
This method works for Winlink Express and may not work for other methods.
Open Settings > GPS/Position Reports...

• If you have a GPS connected, select the appropriate port and Baud rate.
• Once the GPS status boxes are filled, enter any description you like in the comment box.
• Click "Use GPS Position", then click "Post Report".
• The report will appear in your Outbox. Send it by Telnet or your choice.

• If you do not have any GPS, use your phone or Google maps to find your latitude and longitude.
• Enter those values in the entry boxes and add the inscription you wish to use in Comment
• Click "Post Report". The report will appear in your Outbox. Send it by Telnet or your choice.

Now, start a new message and select Standard Templates > GENERAL Forms > Winlink Check-in.

In COMMENTS:, enter your
call sign, first name, city or town, county, state, mode (Winlink HF, VARA FM, VHF packet, etc.)
2 letter state abbreviation and no parentheses, please.
Example: WB0GAG, Bruce, Muscatine, Muscatine, IA, VARA HF
Save a copy for later if you wish, review your message, then click Submit and set "Subject:" to "Iowa Winlink Weekend".
