It's ARRL Field Day weekend.
For this week's exercise, send your message to your ARRL Section Manager and/or Section Emergency Coordinator per section 7.3.5 of the ARRL Field Day 2026 Rules.Start a new message and select Standard Templates > ICS USA Forms > ICS213 General Message.
Portions of text to be entered that are within (parentheses) and italizied are guides to the actual information to enter.
Click Setup and enter (Your Field Day callsign) Field Day 2026
Leave "THIS IS AN EXERCISE" unchecked.
- 1. Incident Name: (your Field Day callsign) Field Day report
- 2. To (Name/Position): (your ARRL Section Manager)/(your ARRL Section ) Section Manager
- 3. From (Name/Position): your callsign/participant
- 4. Subject: (your Field Day callsign) Field Day report
- 5. Date: click to accept
- 6. Time: click to accept
- 7. Message: (club name), (number of) participants, (Field Day location), (number of) ARES operators (involved with your station).
On a separate line, enter your:
call sign, first name, city or town, county, state, mode (Winlink HF, VARA FM, VHF packet, etc.)
2 letter state abbreviation and no parentheses, please!
Example: WB0GAG, Bruce, Muscatine, Muscatine, IA, VARA HF
- 8. Approved by: (your Field Day leader)
- 8b. Position / Title: Field Day leader
Save a copy for later if you wish.
Review your message, then click Submit and set
- "To:" (your ARRL Section Manager);(Section Emergency Coordinator) (Iowa SM and SEC need to be sent to their email addresses.)
- "Cc: WB0GAG
In the message composition window, make sure "Send As:" is set to Winlink Message.
When you are satisfied with the message, click "Post to Outbox".
Check "Request message receipt" if you wish a confirmation message.
Send by radio as normal.
